THRO has been active in the human rights movement in Tripura for over two decades. Even in the adverse environment after 2018, THRO has not retreated from its responsibilities.

The decision to publish Manabadhikar Barta regularly every month was taken at the first meeting of the executive committee elected at THRO's sixth biennial conference. An online edition has been decided upon — a printed edition faces various practical difficulties, chief among them the question of costs. Hence, the online edition.
The primary purpose of Manabadhikar Barta is to document incidents of human rights violations, raise awareness, and highlight the courageous resistance of ordinary people against state and non-state terror across the country.
The country is currently in the grip of a terrible crisis. Freedom of speech and the right to express opinion are under severe attack. Whoever dares to speak against the rulers faces state repression — false cases, one after another, and draconian laws.
India has entered the bulldozer era. The poor, the marginalised, and the minorities are being evicted without notice. Every citizen is treated as an infiltrator, a suspected traitor. The forces of fascism are ever active in sharpening communal polarisation and religious hatred.
In such a difficult situation, the human rights movement wages an unequal battle across the country. The fight for human rights continues — and will continue. We seek everyone's cooperation in publishing Manabadhikar Barta regularly and reaching it to all. A special printed edition once a year is also planned.

মানবাধিকার লঙ্ঘনের বিভিন্ন ঘটনাকে লিপিবদ্ধ করা, মানবাধিকার সচেতনতা বৃদ্ধি করা, রাষ্ট্রীয় ও অ-রাষ্ট্রীয় গোষ্ঠী সন্ত্রাসের বিরুদ্ধে সাধারণ মানুষের সাহসী প্রতিরোধ তুলে ধরাই মানবাধিকার বার্তার মুখ্য উদ্দেশ্য।
বর্তমানে সারাদেশ এক ভয়াবহ সংকটের মধ্যে। বাক স্বাধীনতা ও মত প্রকাশের অধিকার ভয়াবহভাবে আক্রান্ত। যারাই শাসকদের বিরুদ্ধে মুখ খুলবেন, তাদের উপরই নেমে আসে রাষ্ট্রীয় দমন পীড়ন, একের পর এক মিথ্যা মামলা, কালাকানুন প্রয়োগ।
ভারত এখন বুলডোজার যুগে প্রবেশ করেছে। গরিব, প্রান্তিক ও সংখ্যালঘু মানুষদের উচ্ছেদ করা হচ্ছে। প্রাতিষ্ঠানিক গণতন্ত্রের সমস্ত স্তম্ভগুলো এখন ব্যর্থ পরিহাস ছাড়া কিছুই নয়।
এরকম একটি কঠিন পরিস্থিতিতে মানবাধিকার আন্দোলন সারা দেশেই অসম যুদ্ধ চালিয়ে যাচ্ছে। মানবাধিকারের লড়াই জারি আছে, জারি থাকবে। সবার সহযোগিতার কাম্য।
